Reflections on the NAFCC Conference: Leadership at the National Level

Attending the NAFCC Conference was more than just a professional development opportunity—it was a powerful and affirming experience for our Family Child Care Network (FCCN) coaches to witness and step into leadership on a national stage.

For our coaches, being part of a national gathering of family child care professionals reinforced the critical role they play in shaping quality early care and education. It was a moment to learn from leaders across the country, share best practices, and see themselves reflected in the broader movement for equity, recognition, and sustainability in the family child care field.

Experiencing leadership at the national level allows our FCCN coaches to:

  • Bring back fresh ideas and insights to strengthen local networks and provider supports
  • Build relationships with other coaches and leaders committed to the same mission
  • Gain visibility and validation for the work they do every day—work that is often unseen but deeply impactful
  • Step into advocacy roles, using their voices to shape policy and practice
  • Inspire the providers they support, modeling what it means to lead with purpose and confidence

We are proud of our coaches who represented the FCCN with passion and professionalism. Their presence at NAFCC is a reminder that leadership doesn’t just happen in boardrooms—it happens in living rooms, classrooms, and every place where children and families are cared for with love, skill, and commitment.

This experience has elevated their leadership—and in turn, it will elevate the quality, connection, and community across our network.
